Fair Trade Rattles

As a new mom-to-be, I'm amazed at how much more aware I am of where things are made and what they are made of. That's why when I came across these great knit rattles from Yellow Label Kids on our recent trip to LA, I just had to get them in the store.

Fairly traded, 100% handmade by mothers who make real wages from the handcrafts they produce - these knit rattles are a happy alternative to mass produced, commercial toys.

Come by and check them out at Pink or Blue. These are just a few of my fave's ...

APOLOGIES & an early new years resolution

I've been a bad bad blogger ... it looks like my last post was at the beginning of September! No excuses, but it's been a busy couple of months. Pink or Blue turned one (yeah!) and we've found out that we will soon have our own little boy to test out all the great modern baby lifestyle products on! Yup, am expecting - March of next year.

So - it's time to get back on the blog wagon and am making an early new year's resolution to post daily (well, at least every other day). So check back regularly and feel free to call me and my new year's resolution out if you haven't heard from me in a while.

happy new years. =D

New from Bugaboo - a sneak peek ...

1) It's here! The Bugaboo carseat! That's the good news, the bad news is that it is only going to be available in the European market for now. As all countries have their own safety standards and regulations, Bugaboo has decided to conform to those across the Atlantic for the time being. Unfortunately, no word yet on when they will hit our shores ... hopefully soon!

2) These new Bugaboo LED stroller lights are sure to be a huge hit with your husbands - I know they were with mine. He mentioned something about needing about 20 of them ... Very cool and functional indeed. Again, now word on the US/Canadian market just yet - but we'll keep our eye on them!

So so sorry for the summer hiatus ...

I know it's been quite a while since I last posted - I'm a bad bad blogger. =( Summer's over and it's back to work! Things are buzzing at Pink or Blue as we get ready for back to school and our 1st anniversary! 1 year already! Lots of goodies to come, so stay tuned!

Anything Goes

Following the recent DIY (do it yourself) design trends...the Plushform group from Chicago has come out with the first 100% customizable, plush, designer, platform toy. Ready to go out of the box, this toy would be a perfect way for your little ones to get their creative juices going.

Another thought, a bunch of these would make a perfect birthday party activity and take home goodie!

A MUST have for any guy, gal or infant in Calgary - these new Ratna shirts are Stampede Ground P.I.M.P. As Steph pointed out, the funny thing is that no one out in LA's fashion world even knows about Stampede, quite simply - Western is IN.
We love love love. Limited quantities so mosey on over before they are all gone!

Hot or Not

I came across this one today and thought it so weird I had to show Steph. She automatically thought it was something that should be blogged about. I am unconvinced, so we are leaving it up to you. Hot or Not???? You be the judge ...

"Japanese Yosimiya is selling bags of rice printed with a newborn's photo, name and date of birth. The bags are shaped to resemble a swaddled baby. But the key feature is that the bags contain the baby's exact weight in rice. Holding the bag will therefore feel like holding the baby. The personalized, made-to-order 'dakigokochi' are priced from JPY 3500 (USD 32 / EUR 22)."

Munster loves the 80's

I recently came across an Australian brand for BOYS only (sorry, no girls allowed). Perfect for your little rugrat, Munster is a mischievious brand for boys, shunning the idea that kids clothes need to be cute. Sigh ... a brand after Pink or Blue's own heart!

Do you love or do you love?

ps - watch for Munster here at Pink or Blue soon!

Euro spec ...

Denmark to be specific. The Danish & Scandanavian love affair with design is a long one and is fundamentally rooted in the successful marriage of function and clean styles. Such is the case with the Leander Cradle. Rather then be in a fixed position on the floor, the cradle is designed to be suspended to allow for free movement. The benefits of this cradle's design is that it doesn't rock in one direction only, but allows for soft, rythmical movements familiar to your baby from conception.

From the good people @ Leander "A beautiful appearance and great usability are important characteristics of objects in everyday use. Aesthetic design radiates quality of life, appealing to our senses and acting as a source of pleasure day after day" - I could not have said it better myself!

Sorry folks, not yet available in North America, but Pink or Blue is workin' on getting ourselves in line for when they do hit the market!
